FUE vs FUT hair transplant

FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) hair transplant is a minimally invasive surgical procedure that involves extracting individual hair follicles from the donor area (usually the back and sides of the head) and transplanting them into the recipient area (balding or thinning areas). Here’s a step-by-step overview of the FUE hair transplant process:

  1. Consultation: The patient consults with a hair restoration specialist to discuss their hair loss, goals, and suitability for the procedure.
  2. Donor area preparation: The donor area is shaved and cleaned. A local anesthetic is administered to numb the area.

FUE hair transplant is a new technique in hair transplant technology and we practice it at Swat Hair Transplant & Cosmetics Clinic.

  1. Follicular unit extraction: Using a specialized tool, the surgeon extracts individual hair follicles from the donor area. Each follicle contains 1-4 hairs.
  2. Recipient area preparation: The recipient area is also shaved and cleaned. A local anesthetic is administered to numb the area.
  3. Recipient site creation: The surgeon creates tiny incisions in the recipient area, using a specialized tool.
  4. Graft placement: The extracted follicles are carefully placed into the recipient sites, taking care to maintain the natural hair growth direction.
  5. Post-operative care: The patient is provided with post-operative instructions, including medication, wound care, and follow-up appointments.

FUE Hair Transplant Benefits:

  1. Minimally invasive: No linear incision or sutures are required.
  2. Less discomfort: Local anesthesia minimizes pain during the procedure.
  3. Faster recovery: Patients can return to normal activities within a few days.
  4. Natural-looking results: FUE transplants mimic natural hair growth patterns.
  5. No linear scarring: The donor area is left with minimal, scattered scarring. However, FUE hair transplants also have some limitations and potential drawbacks, including:
  6. Higher cost: FUE is generally more expensive than traditional strip harvesting methods.
  7. Time-consuming: The procedure can take several hours or even multiple sessions.
  8. Limited donor hair: The amount of donor hair available may limit the number of grafts that can be transplanted. It’s essential to consult with a qualified and experienced hair restoration specialist to determine if FUE hair transplant is the best option for your individual needs and goals.
